Protecting your privacy is important for Studies&Me. This privacy policy describes our current policies and practices with regard to Personal Data collected by us from you directly and/or through your use of the Studies&Me website and application.

Studies&Me A/S is a private limited company incorporated in Denmark with CVR No. 41600020 ("Studies&Me"). The terms "our", "us" or "we" means Studies&Me A/S.

By using our Services, you expressly consent to the collection, use, storage and disclosure of your personal information, including your personal health information, as described in this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use, which forms part of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to our Privacy Policy, please do not use any of our Services.

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy the following definitions shall apply

Data controllershall be Studies&Me, setting out the purpose for the use of any personal information given by you when using our Services.

Data processorshall mean anyone processing Data on behalf of Studies&Me.

Services shall mean any product, mobile application or website made available by us.

Minor(s)shall mean any person under the age of 18, or persons, who are not legally competent to enter into contracts under applicable law.

User Account or Accountshall mean your personal account, with your personal associated username and password.

Personal Informationshall mean any personal data, identifying or relating to an identified natural person. any factual or subjective information in recorded form that identifies or could be used to identify an individual. Personal Information includes, but is not limited to, information such as age, name, address, birth date, email, gender, height and weight depending on the specific service you use and submit to us.

Personal Health Informationshall mean information about an identifiable individual in recorded form that relates to the physical or mental health of the individual, as well as the providing of health care to the individual. Personal Health Information is a type of Personal Information.

Personal Data shall mean both Personal Information and Personal Health Information together.

Studies&Me Group Company shall mean affiliates or partners acting under Studies&Me.

If the Services requires you to create an account you thereby accept our collection, processing, use and retention of your Personal Data as set forth in this Privacy Policy. Before you submit any information through the Services we therefore encourage you to read this Privacy Policy carefully.

Any Personal Data is provided by you on a voluntary basis. In submitting such information you hereby consent to your Personal Data being collected, stored, processed, used or disclosed as set out in this Privacy Policy, including for legitimate business purposes such as the purpose of making contact with you, responding to your requests for information, or for other purposes indicated by you, as well as for the protection of our own legitimate business interests.

Because Studies&Me provides a wide range of Services, we may ask you to review and accept supplemental terms that apply to your interaction with a specific Service. To the extent those supplemental terms conflict with this Privacy Policy, the supplemental terms associated with the Service shall govern.

Personal Data we collect at Studies&Me

Studies&Me is the data controller of all Personal Data collected about you by us in relation to any of our Services. Once you register we may ask you for Personal Data relevant for being able to present, enrich and personalise data experiences. Further, we may collect Personal Data provided by you voluntarily to us, such as information included in comments and recommendations made by you on any of our Services or in response to questionnaires, surveys or during other interactions with us. In addition, we may monitor your use of our Services. Through this, we may collect and obtain additional Personal Data about you regarding, for example, your health. By registering an Account, you explicitly consent to the processing of the Personal Data you submit to the Personal Data or which is otherwise collected by us as set out in this Privacy Policy.

We may collect and process the following Personal Data about you either given by you or provided through your use of our Services:

  • Information relating to transactions carried out between you and us on or in relation to the Service
  • Your contact information, such as name, address, phone number, e-mail adresse provided voluntarily by you in form 1 or through other modalities of the Service
  • Health data and medical history as provided voluntarily by you in form 2
  • Photographs provided voluntarily by you in form 2

  • Information about you if you use any of the websites we operate or the Services we provide
  • Information obtained through the completion of surveys that you agree to participate in and that we use for research purposes
  • Personal Data contained in text messages related to our Services, images or other communication modalities of any of our Services

Use of collected Personal Data

The primary purpose for collecting, storing, processing and disclosing your Personal Data on Studies&Me is to make a pre-qualifying assessment of people interested in participating in a clinical study, and if you choose, to welcome you to the Studies&Me database for potential participants for unspecified future studies. Your Personal Data are used to determine whether there is a relevant study currently available close to you. If no relevant study is currently available your Personal Data is kept in the Studies&Me database in order to match you with upcoming studies. If you are successfully enrolled in the study, your data, including your health data and any photos that you upload during the pre-qualifying process, will be used for eligibility screening by our team of dermatologists in the study itself.

Other purposes for processing your Personal Data are described below:

  • To collect data across users, to present an aggregated result of experiences and use of the Services on an anonymous basis
  • To provide personalized services according to individual profiles based on individually keyed in data processed by an algorithm
  • To improve the Services in terms of functionality and content
  • To establish and maintain communications with you as agreed with you
  • To process your comments and respond to any queries you may have
  • To carry out planning, filtering, qualification and recruitment for studies
  • To link, aggregate and cross-reference with other Studies&Me data in order to improve the Services
  • To comply with applicable laws, regulations or codes of practice, including to report adverse events to Studies&Me Group Companies and health regulators
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to help safeguard the interests of Studies&Me and its users
  • For research purposes
  • To enforce or apply the Terms of Use and other agreements or to investigate potential breaches
  • For all other purposes to which you have specifically consented

Your Personal Data will be anonymised after two years of inactivity or upon request from you. Inactivity meaning the latest point in time you have interacted with communication from Studies&Me.

How is your Personal Data transferred and secured

Personal Information submitted through our Services will be kept confidential (to the extent set out in this Privacy Policy) and will only be used for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy. While we use security measures to protect Personal Data transmitted online, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Please know that communications over the Internet may be intercepted by an unauthorized third party even though encrypted.

The employees who have access to Personal Data have been trained to handle such data properly and in accordance with our security protocols and strict standards of confidentiality.

Focused on protecting your Personal Data, Studies&Me will only pass information onto third parties if the applicable law on protection of Personal Data allows this and if this is in accordance with the Terms of Use and the present Privacy Policy.

Studies&Me will use service providers (i.e. data processors acting only on instructions from Studies&Me), some of which may be located outside of the region or country from where you reside, in order to provide technical support, services in the area of maintenance and development of the Services. We may decide to host the data at a Studies&Me Group company or a service provider acting as a data processor.

Via your use of the Services you understand and hereby accept that your Personal Data will also be transferred to the following independent third parties for processing for the purposes stated below and only in respect of Personal Information relevant for these purposes:

  • Other Studies&Me group companies for the purposes set out above
  • Clinical Research Organisations (acting as data processor for Studies&Me) for the purpose of transferring your Personal Data provided in form 1 and form 2 to a health care professional (e.g. a hospital, clinic, doctor or dermatologist) in your area, who might contact you directly regarding participation in a clinical study near you
  • Health care professionals (e.g. a hospital, clinic, doctor or dermatologist) in your area, who might contact you directly regarding participation in a clinical study near you
  • Any third party service providers (who may be located in any part of the world) for purposes related to supporting Studies&Me’s business (e.g., fulfillment services, technical support, delivery services) and providing you with information (if you have opted in to receiving such information as described above), in which case we will require such third parties to agree to treat it in accordance with this Privacy Statement.
  • Any third party involved with the proposed sale, assignment, merger, amalgamation, plan of arrangement or other transfer of the business of a Studies&Me Group company or a separate part hereof
  • Any governmental, administrative, judicial or regulatory authority for the purpose of co-operating in proceedings, inquiries and investigations requested by such authorities or to comply with any legal or regulatory requirements or to protect our rights, property or interests, including to enforce this Privacy Policy or our other Terms of Use.
  • Any necessary third party if the personal safety of members of the public are in jeopardy.

Some of these third parties, service providers, affiliates or related companies may be located outside of the country from where you registered using one of the Services. As a result, your Personal Data may be transferred, stored, used and/or processed outside your country in connection with the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Contractual or other measures Studies&Me may use to protect your Personal Data are subject to the legal requirements applicable in the foreign jurisdictions where your Personal Data may be transferred, stored, used or processed (for example, lawful requirements to disclose Personal Information to government authorities in those countries).

Further, Studies&Me may disclose and/or use aggregated information and non-identifying information with third parties for further analysis, demographic profiling and other similar or related purposes. In such case the information will be completely anonymised and therefore not subject to this Privacy Policy.

Your rights and responsibilities

You have the right to request access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data. You also have the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted. If processing of your personal information is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Your withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before you withdrew your consent. You may withdraw your consent by contacting Studies&Me at You have the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (data portability). You may always lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. The Danish Data Protection Agency.

Furthermore, you have the right to object to processing of your personal data as follows. If processing of your personal data is based on article 6(1)(e) or article 6(1)(f), you have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of your personal data. Where your personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data about you for such marketing. Further, you can, at any time, withdraw your consent to the Privacy Policy by contacting Studies&Me without the need to state any reason. In that event, Personal Data related to you will be deleted. If the Personal Data we, or any third party instructed by us, have about you changes please let us know as soon as possible so that we can keep our records up to date.

Receiving newsletters, relevant information etc.

If you have requested to receive information from us, e.g. newsletters, communications regarding the Services, disease awareness information, surveys and questionnaires and other relevant information about similar services and products etc., and do not wish to receive further information, you can easily opt-out of receiving further information from us by sending an email to the address set out at the end of this Privacy Policy or using the link provided in the newsletter in question

Information on Minors

Our Services are in general not intended for use of Minors. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from any person we know is a Minor without prior consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Personal Information is protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

Consequently, to the extent permitted by law, Studies&Me, its affiliates, related companies, third party service providers and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents do not represent, warrant, or guarantee that Personal Data will be protected against misuse, loss, or alterations and do not accept any liability for Personal Data submitted to them for your or third parties; use or misuse of Personal Data. Moreover, where you use passwords, ID numbers, or other special access features it is your responsibility to safeguard them.

Studies&Me keeps Personal Information only as long as necessary to satisfy the purposes for which it was collected, however, some Personal Information is kept for a number of years to comply with legal requirements. Any Personal Information that is no longer needed is securely destroyed after two years.
